Green Valley (postcode 2168) falls under the Liverpool City Council and is one of the older established suburbs in South West Sydney, developed mostly through the late 1960s and 1970s. Block sizes are noticeably larger than modern estates, typically 600–800sqm, occasionally bigger, with mature canopies and original landscaping that in many cases has been in place for over 50 years. The suburb also has real terrain variation, with some streets sloping enough that retaining walls become a structural rather than decorative requirement.
Soil across Green Valley is older clay, well-settled after decades of established cover and generally with good natural drainage. However, some original yards have heavy compaction from years of foot traffic and old concrete paths. The bigger challenges here are the age and scale of what needs to be removed: 50-year-old concrete paths and driveways, original timber and brick retaining walls that have failed, mature trees that have outgrown small original yards, and asbestos-era materials in some older outbuildings that need proper handling before any rebuild work starts.
